I have wondered much over the past few weeks if the public really wants to hear the truth.  To quote Jack Nicholson from “A Few Good Men”, I often think “you can’t handle the truth!”.  During a conversation with some liberal friends this past weekend (yes I do have some) we were talking about Medicare and Social Security.  We never got to any debate about how to fix them, you see, we could not all agree there was even a problem.  I got all kinds of sideways arguments on how they deserved these entitlements and how they paid in all those years.  I was told of how critical Medicare is for seniors and how dare I want to “drive granny over the cliff”.  Wow, no wonder politicians will not touch this problem.
The reality is Medicare and Social Security are not sustainable, period.  People very much misunderstand fiscal conservatives.  There are lots of programs I support wholeheartedly, I just want them to actually be paid for.  The truth is for the first time in history, we can now expect to take less out of social security than we put in.  There may be healthy debate about how to fix the problem, but to say there is no problem just proves- you can’t handle the truth!

Why I support Chick-Fil-A

Posted by: | Comments (0)

I have marveled at the furor over the Chick-Fil-A opposition to gay marriage.  I am taken aback by two things.  First, what about free speech?  It is the very people who have been denied free speech and been the victims of bigotry that now take a very bigoted stance toward Chick-Fil-A.  Every time someone comes out against gay rights, they are viciously attached by the general gay movement as small minded and bigoted.  Again, I am not even saying I am for or against gay marriage- it is irrelevant to the point that people who have been the victim of intolerance should be more tolerant.  Now again, looking at what a company supports and deciding if you want to spend your money there is a very legitimate point, but the hate spewed toward Chick-Fil_A has surprised me.
Second point, remember most of these are franchises and you are really not hurting the company and not going to change the CEO’s stance as much as you will hurt your local community.
So when we ask for free speech, grow up- it works both ways.  We should be respectful and tolerant.  Free speech is a good thing and we should never seek to stifle it.

Romney is falling into the trap of defending something he does not need to defend, simply because the leftist media keep insisting he should.  Even if he outsourced jobs overseas (and there is ABSOLUTELY NO evidence he did), it is not the vile act the media makes it out to be.  After all, Obama outsourced the manufacture of our Olympic uniforms to China!  When Obama failed to create jobs, he started bragging about how many jobs were “saved” instead.  Well, if Bain advised the outsourcing of some jobs overseas, how many jobs were actually saved here at home.  Domino’s Pizza and Staples to name a couple of companies, may not be around today without Bain .  So should Romney get credit for every job at Domino’s and Staples?

Obama and Job Creation- ABYSMAL

Posted by: | Comments (2)

Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?  With this iconic question, Ronald Reagan summed up an entire campaign.  Every time we go to elect a President, this is a fair question.  With our economy struggling, still, as we turn to the next election, good people everywhere need to not let the distortions about Romney overshadow the Obama record.  No wonder the Obama camp wants to keep things focused on Romney and personal attacks.  They know they cannot defend his record.  FACT- We have 500,000 FEWER jobs in this country now than we did when Obama became President.  If you call that a record of job creation, I have to seriously question your math skills!
